Insurance is sometimes more of a pain than dealing with the day-to-day challenges of living with a bleeding disorder. Insurance and the burden of finding the means to cover the cost of health care and clotting factor can be a huge source of stress for those in our community. We understand this issue and have set out to provide you with resources that can be your starting point in making sure that you or your loved ones are covered.
The following pages feature a variety of useful information. You will find a state-by-state breakdown of insurance programs and resources for finding health care in your area. We have taken great care to be sure that the information we have featured is accurate and up to date. However, due to the massive scale of compiling this information, please be advised that the programs listed may not be comprehensive and all are subject to (frequent) change. Keep in mind that with the listed resources, coverage varies greatly and some programs may not cover the cost of clotting factor. Contact your bleeding disorder chapter representative, the social worker at your hemophilia treatment center or at your local hospital, or your Matrix Health Regional Care Coordinator to help you learn more about these programs as well as others that may be available in your area.
When dealing with a bleeding disorder or any other serious or chronic medical issue, finding and maintaining health coverage can be a challenge. Even if you have coverage now, take the time to familiarize yourself with the programs in your state. Seek to build a comprehensive network of resources to keep at your disposal. Though keeping up with such information can be frustrating and confusing, by creating your network now, you may be able to avoid stressful situations in the future. Full Story
