Fall 2006 | Pedigree Tracking / David McCormick

For those of you who may be concerned about the term “pedigree,” it is a term used by the FDA to describe the tracking, origin and destination of medications within a distribution system. On December 2, 2005, the FDA issued a federal requirement that requires manufacturers and drug wholesalers to issue these pedigree papers either on paper or in electronic form. Many drugs and medications, including factor products, now require a pedigree.

Even prior to the FDA requirement, we at Matrix Health have complied with all state and federal regulations to track and record all pedigree information. We purchase our factor products either directly from the manufacturer or from ASD Healthcare, as required by some manufacturers.

ASD Healthcare is a distributor of albumin, immunologic, hyper-immune globulin, antihemophilic and other specialty products. It is a division of AmerisourceBergen Corporation, the world’s largest pharmaceutical distributor.

In every circumstance, all of our patients should feel completely confident that the products they receive from Matrix Health are of first-rate, pedigreed quality. Matrix Health does not, and will not, obtain factor products from any sources that deal in the secondary wholesale market.

We go to extreme lengths to ensure that products received by Matrix Health are packaged properly, have extended dating, and are stored appropriately. The products are sent to our consumers in the same stringent manner. Our internal Quality Assurance personnel want you to feel comfortable and know without doubt that you have chosen the right company for your factor needs.

Please feel free to contact me directly with questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
David McCormick
