Maria VetterDirector of Corporate Communications | Champaign, IL

Hemophilia has touched every aspect of my life. Two of my brothers and two of my children have severe Factor IX deficiency. In addition to being a carrier, I also have mild hemophilia. The challenges my family and I have had to endure have been numerous. However, through it all we have found our strength in our faith and in our sense of humor.

Originally from Chicago, I have lived in Texas, Georgia, and Colorado, and am now back in Illinois. I have degrees in psychology, sociology, and education, and have worked in the hemophilia industry for many years. As a single mother of four very active young adults ranging in ages from 15 to 21, I can truly say that our life is nothing short of a roller coaster ride. My children have grown up understanding hemophilia not as a disorder, but rather as an adventure.

My two oldest children are now in college. Sending my first-born off to school was tough enough, but sending my son with hemophilia 'away' to fend for himself was a huge, but necessary adjustment for us both!

I am thrilled to be working for Matrix Health! My position as the Director of Corporate Communications has given me a wonderful opportunity to reach out and, in a positive way, influence and educate others in the bleeding disorders community. My personal goal has always been to make a difference and with Matrix as a partner, I can.
