Edgar Martinez

Regional Care Coordinator | Oviedo, FL

I was born on St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. My family moved to the Orlando area in 1989 after Hurricane Hugo. In 1996, I was diagnosed with Hemophilia A.

Since 1996, I have been very involved with B.A.S.E. Camp (Children's Cancer Foundation), first as a participant, and now as a volunteer. B.A.S.E. Camp is an awesome camp in Florida for children with oncology and hematology issues. The camp provides a monthly opportunity for the children to "forget" about their medical problems by arranging fun outings.

One of my passions in life is cooking: I attended the Orlando Culinary Academy Le Cordon Bleu where I received my degree in Culinary Arts. I have worked for some great companies; however, with a bleeding disorder I know that working in a kitchen is not always going to be an option for me.

Having recently experienced the high school/college period of my life, my ultimate goal is to get out into the bleeding disorder community and be of service to young people living with bleeding disorders. As fate would have it, my genuine pleasure of working with kids and young adults has led me to the path of Matrix Health. I have been greatly looking forward to an opportunity like the one I now have with Matrix! I am very excited to be part of a great company that is truly "Making a Difference" in the bleeding disorder community.
