I don't remember the first time I heard the word hemophilia. From the minute I was born, it was part of my daily life. My father had severe Hemophilia A. When I was seven, he passed away of complications caused by tainted blood products. Although my father died when I was young, I stayed educated about the disorder throughout my life. After the birth and subsequent diagnosis of my son, becoming active in the community became a priority. I volunteered with my local chapter and later took a position with a homecare company. What I wanted though, was more than just a job; I wanted an opportunity to connect with others affected by bleeding disorders. Matrix Health has given me that opportunity. As a Care Coordinator, I am involved with the community on a much more personal level and am given a very rewarding chance to help others. I have 14 years of experience with state funded insurance agencies, and have participated in many educational programs. Since I have hemophilia as well, issues regarding women with bleeding disorders are also a passion of mine. I feel that I can truly make a difference by sharing my knowledge, providing support, and giving the kind of care that I would expect myself. I am dedicated to using my experiences to help others empower themselves as they live life with a bleeding disorder.
