Matrix Releases Activity Book For Kids

Matrix Health Group is pleased to announce the release of a new children's book. The book aims to educate children up to the pre-teen years about the many facets of life with a bleeding disorder. Featuring numerous activities in a colorful and fun format, both children and adults will enjoy testing their knowledge. It is fitting that this is the favorite quote of Regional Care Coordinator Matthew Igelman. Diagnosed at birth with hemophilia A and shortly thereafter acquiring inhibitors, pain was a regular part of Matthew Igelman's life. He recalls much time spent in the hospital attempting to stop bleeding with everything short of "witch magic."
Matt soon began immune tolerance therapy in attempt to get his inhibitor under control. While the therapy began to help the bleeding and the inhibitor level, the cost of treatment began a new sort of pain - the stress and anxiety caused by finding the resources to pay for such an expensive form of treatment... Your child has been diagnosed with a bleeding disorder. In addition to managing the day-to-day challenges of living with a bleeding disorder, there are also issues that will arise while dealing with typical childhood health concerns. At the top of the list are immunizations, also called vaccinations... Immunization against disease is one of the biggest public health achievements of the twentieth century. There was a time when infectious diseases were the world's leading cause of death, but with the development of vaccines, many infectious diseases have been radically reduced or eliminated in the United States.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends immunizations as early as infancy to prevent disease in those who receive the vaccine and to protect others who may encounter unvaccinated people. If your child has a bleeding disorder, you may have additional concerns as you prepare for your appointment with your physician's office. Full Story
